We integrate eco-friendly practices throughout our operations and proudly hold a BREEAM-NL Outstanding certification. Through our initiatives, we show that sustainability can coexist with comfort and style, offering guests a conscious stay in the heart of Amsterdam.
OUR SUSTAINABILITY PARTNERS & INITIATIVES
Hotel Jansen Bajeskwartier has achieved two BREEAM-NL certificates. The New Construction and Renovation Outstanding certificate and the In-use Excellent certificate, reflecting its dedication to high environmental standards.
Our interiors came to life with key principles of circularity in mind: low impact materials with optimal technical lifetime, preventing production waste, designing for disassembly, repair, and re-use, and local production!
Hotel Jansen is on a journey toward becoming a B-Corp, strengthening our commitment to people, planet, and positive impact.
We invest in energy-efficient systems and closely monitor usage, while actively encouraging both guests and staff to minimise water and electricity consumption through conscious daily choices!
We work with Woodio, a modern-day bathroom and interior design brand that brings together the best of Nordic design traditions and the use of sustainable bio-material innovation in a contemporary way.
We encouraging low-carbon transportation by providing Jansen bicycle rentals as an accessible and environmentally friendly alternative to motorised transport.
Fiction Factory, an Amsterdam based sustainable construction studio, spent over two years carefully working on the interior of Hotel Jansen Bajeskwartier. Creating interiors that meet our mutual circular ambitions.
Raumkultur’s origins from the festival world, so it has the habit of working mainly with recycled and special materials. Due to the amount of special materials used in the hotel and the interior, Hotel Jansen Schinkel is a place with a very low footprint.
By inviting guests, staff, and locals to exchange clothing during our recurring Clothing Swap events, we extend the life of garments, reduce textile waste, and create a shared, community-driven approach to more sustainable fashion.
Our social impact
Hotel Jansen actively contributes to the social fabric of Amsterdam through initiatives that foster community engagement and support social enterprises. In collaboration with the City of Amsterdam, we strip back the social structures that lead to and sustain exclusion, loneliness, and related mental health challenges. By doing so, we offer people disconnected from life in general and from the workforce specifically a sense of belonging and a chosen family, the Jansen Family!
